Spain – Working together to fight youth unemployment

(ANS – Córdoba) – In Spain today many young people are liable to find their entry to the labour market blocked: the unemployment rate is among the highest in Europe. To stem this real social scourge it is now more important than ever to work in a network, including corporations, state and social organizations. The “Incorpora” programme promoted by the “La Caixa” bank is a success story. In the province of Córdoba, the “Fundación Proyecto Don Bosco Córdoba” has now joined this programme.

Thanks to the Incorpora programme almost 200 projects were carried out in the first six months of 2016, an increase of 2% over the same period in 2015.

This result was possible thanks to the collaboration of five bodies: the Fundación Proyecto Don Bosco Córdoba, the Centre for the Bata cooperation initiatives, the Association of Teachers in “Encuentro en la Calle”, the Association for the Protection of children and adolescents and the Red Cross of Cordoba. These five bodies are responsible for the Incorpora programme in the province, and the involvement of 78 local companies that have joined this project of work integration and social responsibility.

In operation since 2006, the programme is aimed at the most vulnerable groups of society: young people at risk of exclusion, disabled people, long-term unemployed, ex-convicts, immigrants and victims of gender violence.
