Belgium – On 10 October, the Secretary General of Don Bosco International attended the Global Gateway High-Level Youth Event, hosted by the European Commission – International Partnerships (DG INTPA) in Brussels.
The event gathered policymakers, members of the EU’s Youth Sounding Boards from around the world, and different young leaders to celebrate achievements under the first-ever Youth Action Plan in EU external action (2022-2027) and the youth engagement within the Global Gateway. Enriching discussions by inspiring young leaders focused on meaningful youth participation in global strategies, intergenerational dialogue, empowerment of young activists, sustainable development of their local communities and societies. The European Commissioner for International Partnerships, Jutta Urpilainen, has repeatedly emphasised how the involvement of young people in decision-making processes reduces conflict and is crucial for the effective promotion of human rights and peace.
We wish that the Commissioner-designate for International Partnerships, Jozef Síkela, will embrace her legacy.
