  • Strategic dialogue meeting on the Solidarity Corps
    09:00 -12:00
    2016-11-18

President Juncker announced in his State of the Union Address before the European Parliament the idea of a European Solidarity Corps which should be launched by end of 2016 with the first 100,000 young Europeans taking part in its activities by 2020.

We are pleased to invite you to a strategic dialogue meeting on the Solidarity Corps, with a particular emphasis on its professional strand.

The objective will be to gather your views around the following dimensions:

    • Solidarity-related activities
    • The Corps from a young person’s perspective
    • The Corps from an employer/organisation’s perspective
    • Ensuring labour market integration after a Corps placement.

  • Meeting of Christian Group of migrations
    09:00 -12:00
    2016-11-23

Our organisations represent Churches throughout Europe – Anglican, Orthodox, Protestant and Roman Catholic – as well as Christian agencies particularly concerned with migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers. As Christian organisations we are deeply committed to the inviolable dignity of each human being created in the image of God, as well as to the concepts of the common good, of global solidarity and of the promotion of a society that welcomes strangers. We also share the conviction that the core values of the European Union being an area of freedom and justice must be reflected in day-to-day politics.

  • Children Rights Forum
    14:00 -15:00
    2016-11-29-2016-11-30

The 10th European Forum on the rights of the child which will take place in Brussels on 29 and 30 November 2016. The theme of this year’s meeting is the protection of children in migration.

Participants work in the areas of rights of the child and child protection as well as asylum and migration. One of the underlying objectives is to forge stronger connections between child protection and asylum and migration authorities and actors.
The first day of the conference, 29 November, will be dedicated to high-level speeches, to convey key messages on the human rights of child migrants and to raise awareness on the challenges and protection gaps they face, as well as on solutions and good practice, particularly in Europe.
On the second day, 30 November, there will be four parallel sessions taking a more indepth look at the protection of children in migration, with a focus on promoting good, child-centred and rights-based practice.
